Memories of Murder - End Scene [HD]
This scene is probably the best ending of any movie I've ever seen, those of you who have not seen this movie I would highly recommend it.

    Possibly the greatest ending scene/final shot in the history of Cinema. Asian Cinema at the very least.... that hauntingly beautiful song at the end really keeps us in a state of shock.

    I never thought about this but that little girl had a 1-on-1 encounter with a serial killer in the middle of nowhere and nothing happened to her. She was pretty lucky the way I see it

    Ending theme is quite good, adding that the whole mentality of him represented through the movie collapsing/crushing-down which is obvious by his expression just promote it to phenomenal. The realization of how he f..ked it up and insist on f..king it up, despite of his colleges warnings and hints. This is one of my favorite movies and I do not generally enjoy Korean movies including Oldboy... none of them feel natural but forced, over-dramatic exaggerated to me, but this movie definitely feels natural

    Despite what the director said about the ending? It's possible to make the scene even better just by thinking that instead of him just looking at the killer he looks at all the killers in the world. Those who think they got away with everything and that no one will look at them with suspicious eyes of someone who knows what they did. Every killer who watches this film will see someone looking at them. The look they thought they were safe from. The look of someone who knows what they did. The best film ending I've ever seen, for sure, simply brilliant

    Real killer of the cases this movie was based on, Lee Chun-Jae, vividly remembered and confessed every details of his murders during investigation in 2019. For each of his murders, what and where he exactly did, frame by frame, how the victim acted, how his emotion progressed, the weather, air scent, the crunching sound of fallen leaves he stepped on, like it was couple of weeks ago though it was actually 30 freaking years or more. Well he has been in prison since 1994 so physically he might have not visited the crime scenes to bring back his memories as this movie describes, but he didn't even need to. He DID visit every scenes in his head, again and again and again for 30 years, reminiscing over memories of murder.

    When he had the murderer in front of him and looked him in the eyes, he prevented his partner from killing him because "he looked very normal", he could not visualize him as the murderer, that that girl told him that the man she saw checking the sewer I came to see there because he did something a long time ago, and his face was very "normal" it destroyed him

    Police finally discovered the one who did this in 2019 with a DNA search. But he was already in prison since 1994 with a life sentence for another crime he did. He said he watched this movie in prison. This movie was released in 2003.

    • @seamonkeybutter92
      @seamonkeybutter92 7 месяцев назад

      Right. His real name is Lee Chun-jae, and he was in his 50s, sentenced to life imprisonment for rape of his sister-in-law and was a criminal in Busan Prison. He confessed to being the culprit of the real-life incident, which was the motif of the film, and DNA was also consistent. He told the detective that he thought he'd catch me sooner, but he came later than he thought. Please understand that sentences can be a bit awkward using a translator.

    This is one of those movies that highlight a sad truth in life, there are some things you just can't solve or know the answers to. Who the killer is in this movie doesn't matter, its what he represents. Psychopaths just look like ordinary people. They could be a family member, a close friend or a neighbour. Really great film and really powerful ending.
